FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Seattle Artist Sheila Kay Announces New Music Project Dancing Naked

Seattle-based singer, songwriter, and performing artist Sheila Kay is stepping fully into her creative power with a bold new music project titled Dancing Naked, currently in production. At 61, Kay embraces what she calls being a “late bloomer,” using her voice and artistry to challenge societal stereotypes around age, womanhood, and visibility—particularly for mature women in America.

Written for a broad audience but centered especially on women in midlife and beyond, Dancing Naked speaks directly from the heart. The project explores themes of freedom, sensuality, healing, self-love, and personal truth, offering a powerful counter-narrative to the idea that creativity or relevance has an expiration date.

“I don’t fit into the mindset that says women have passed their time,” Kay says. “This music is about liberation—emotionally, spiritually, and artistically.”

Kay is currently working in the studio with producer Jeremy Smithson and plans to celebrate the release with a public launch event anticipated for April 2026. Details for the release party will be announced soon.

With decades of experience as a performer and music minister, Sheila Kay continues to use art as a tool for connection, healing, and community uplift—proving that it’s never too late to claim your voice.

✨ About “Last Night I Cried” ✨ “Last Night I Cried” is a heartfelt journey that began in 2019 as a spoken word piece, emerging from the depths of my soul. It has evolved into a powerful song that seamlessly blends spoken word with music capturing the various phases of my life. Through this piece, I honor every version of myself, reflecting on the challenges and growth that have shaped me into the woman I am today. Inspired by Jill Scott’s “Love Rain,” this song serves as a moment of truth, healing, and self-acceptance, inviting listeners to their own stories.

This powerful piece was written from the depths of my heart in response to the ongoing gun violence and the countless Black lives tragically taken. It speaks to the cries, pain, and outrage of families who have lost loved ones — and to the urgent need for awareness, healing, and change.
